Kalbarri National Park, covering 186,000 hectares, is a breathtaking natural wonder in Western Australia. Located near the Murchison River, the park features inland gorges, coastal cliffs, and diverse wildlife. Accessible from both east and west, all roads are suitable for 2WD vehicles.

 

Key Attractions

  • Nature's Window: An iconic rock formation framing the Murchison River view, starting point for The Loop Walk (8km, Class 4 hike).
  • Kalbarri Skywalk: Twin skywalks extending 25m and 17m over the gorge, offering panoramic views and cultural insights about the local Nanda people.
  • Z-Bend Lookout & River Trail: Offers stunning views and challenging trails, including the 6km Four Ways Trail.
  • Ross Graham Lookout: The easiest access to the river, ideal for picnics and short walks.
  • Hawk's Head Lookout: Named after a hawk-shaped rock formation, offering scenic river views.
  • Meanarra Hill: A perfect sunset spot with 360° views of Kalbarri and the Indian Ocean.

Wildlife & Tips
Expect to see kangaroos, emus, echidnas, and a variety of birds, including wedge-tailed eagles. Summer temperatures can reach 50°C; hikers should carry plenty of water and avoid peak heat hours.

  • No Camping: Camping is not allowed, but overnight hikes are possible with ranger approval.
  • Bring Water: No drinking water is available in the park.
