Red Bluff Lookout

The sealed trail from the parking area to the lookouts is an easy walk, offering stunning views of Red Bluff Beach, Jake's Point, the Murchison River mouth, and Meanarra Hill.
Just north of Red Bluff lies Wittecarra Creek, thought to be the site of the first European settlement in Australia. In 1629, the Dutch East India Company ship Batavia was wrecked off the Abrolhos Islands, southwest of Kalbarri. Following the wreck, a group of mutineers tragically massacred 125 survivors. While most of the ringleaders were executed, two conspirators, Wouter Loos and Jan Pelgromm, were set ashore near Wittecarra Creek. Their fate remains a mystery.
